what are you willing to lay on the line?

earlier this week i wrote a post on the cost of settling.  to be fair though, there is also a cost for not settling. this truth is captured well in this quote that was sent to me last night by someone from our community:

But the truth is… we all want more. Some take a chance for the rush of winning. Some for love. But you can’t have your dream without laying something on the line.  (quote taken from even money)

in other words, in order to acheive your heart’s desires, you are going to have to put something on the line.  it’s not going to come for free.  you may have to forfeit temporary comfort, stability, or independence.  you may have to give up your time, money, or even certain relationships.  whatever it is, you  have to be willing to put something on the line. the beauty of this sacrifice though, is that there is an upside to the cost of not settling.  you give yourself the opportunity to achieve your dreams and truly live.  what are you willing to lay on the line? don’t settle, go hard!

i think, perhaps, it is so easy to settle because achieving what we have settled for seems better than failing at achieving our dreams.
