similarities with disruption
i’m only half of the way through jean-marie dru’s, how disruption brought order, and I am amazed at the similarities between it and my idea (soon to be book), “are you choosing the extraordinary?” jean-marie is the ceo of advertising agency, tbwa, and disruption is the strategic approach behind how tbwa leads clients to achieve their business goals. although disruption is for businesses and “choose the extraordinary” is for individuals, there is significant overlap in how they approach helping individuals/organizations reach their desired futures. both organizational ideas:
- encourage taking the time to identify the best option(s) that will “accelerate our journey” from where we are to where we want to be instead of automatically following predominant conventions.
- are rooted in open philosophies that allow them to be owned by the individual and customized to the situation/issue at hand. in essence, neither idea gives you the final answer but instead acts as a “catalyst for the imagination, a guide that opens up many paths, a method that allows us to turn perspectives inside out” as we search for the right answer.
- encourage adopting a mindset for approaching vision attainment.
i am excited about finishing the work of jean-marie dru so that it can influence my writing of “are you choosing the extraordinary” in a way that pushes it to another level. If you are in the marketing/advertising profession i suggest you check out any one of jean-marie’s books. if you are an individual, i suggest you get excited about mine. ha.
