are you doing it enough?
you say it’s important and so you are doing it. great! but are you doing it enough? or, are you doing it just so you can say you are? or so that other people see you? or so that you can be just like everyone else?
anything that is important…
anything that can be a game changer…
…in your life, the lives of the people you love or the lives of people you serve (employees, customers, etc) warrants that you don’t just do it, but that you do it in a way that makes it matter. it demands that you don’t it to the point of mediocrity but that you do it to the point of being exceptional. it requires that you don’t just do it but that you overcommit to it-and yes, that means you will have to sacrifice in other places.
walmart isn’t known for low prices because they give you the lowest price on bread alone. no one sees nike as the leader in sports apparel because they made one good shoe. there’s not one person who remembers the leader who claimed to be a leader just because their title said so. and who talks about the dad or husband who was absolutely perfect just because they showed up? showing up is half of it, true, but it’s just the beginning.
if it can mean something-i mean really, really, mean something- it requires that you do it to the point where you fly past the edges of comfort, convention and status quo to extraordinary behaviors so that you can really, truly, actually create change. otherwise, you just aren’t doing it enough.
