iHappen: when will you happen to life?
in the last week i have been met with death, pain, injury, frustration and a host of other bad things. and it seemed like everywhere i went, the most common response to these things from the people around me, including myself, was “life happens.” and it got me thinking, sure the majority of things i’ve faced in the past week have been out of my control but to accept what life hands you as the finished story is to accept that life is only a one way street. and it’s not. at least, it doesn’t have to be.
yes, our lives are accompanied by trials, barriers, issues, mishaps, and various stumbling blocks that meet us along the way. the problem is, that is where many of us stop. we accept whatever life gives us as gospel. we believe it to be true and so we leave it to be true. consequently, we forfeit our power to create change and take on a passive role in life. as a result, we fail to attain all we are seeking out of life and/or fail to become all we can be.
but we must determine in ourselves that this is never an option. we must accept our roles as creators and understand that just as much as life happens to us, we, too, must happen to life. it is imperative that we take an active role in determining our futures; and for those of us who accept this responsibility, i offer a new, apple-like word to our vocabulary:
iHappen: to choose to happen to life
note: iHappen tees are now available in our store…
